Totally met my expectations. Almost 11 hours of continuous music. Distrubed and Slipknot did not dissapoint. Would go again in a heartbeat next year.

Last night I attended the Mayhem Festival in Auburn, Washington (The White River Amphitheater) and this is my review! First and foremost they were 30 minutes late opening the gates to allow anyone inside, note here that it was well over 80 degrees outside, thankfully once they got opened they were fairly quick getting everyone inside. Once inside we walked around and I always love checking out the various booths, although fairly spendy I bought 3 concert shirts (one for each person in attendance in my group), a beautiful pentacle necklace/choker and various other things. Pretty much all the bands on the second stage sounded very good and put on an excellent show...way to go guys.

One thing I hadn't expected and was plesantly surprised at was that they had a group of three stunt motorcyclests and a decent sized ramp set up, they were doing all kinds of flips, turn and other acrobatic stuff in the air. It was amazing to watch - and a little scary even a minor mistake and it's all over boys, thankfully no one was hurt. They did two different showings, awsome really! Then comes the negative stuff, for whatever reason they had the lawn area by the main stage blocked off so no one could go sit down, now mind you not everyone in attendance was a little teenager and people like my step-dad (who yes was in attendance with me along with my mom) who is suffering from a back injury were suffering with having to remain standing and walking on hard pavement.

And my step-dad wasn't the only one suffering there were other injured people there who I'm sure would have appreciated sitting for a bit and were unable to do so. And the great thing about rock concerts is that it brings out people of all ages, so next time have the lawn seating open so that those who need to sit can. At one point a group of around 50-100 people were about to simply rush security to get into the lawn (GA) seating, it was starting to get ugly. Those in charge of these kinds of events need to take those kinds of things into account, pissed off concertgoers with either rush security or riot, neither of which is a good thing. Once they finally opened the lawn seating (after everyone started screaming and threatening to rush them) we took our seats on the grass and waited for main stage to begin.

Already irritated at not being able to get into (GA) lawn seating earlier we were extremely pissed off that they had schedualed it so that both the main stage and second stage were playing at the same time. So if you were watching Mastadon on the main stage you missed the last two bands on second stage or vice versa. This is utter crap, we paid to see all the bands not miss some because of that kind of crap. As if missing bands wasn't bad enough there was also quite a bit of "bleed through" i.e. we were watching Mastadon and could still slightly hear second stage! WTF that just sounded like crap! Do not have two stages going at the same time, second stage should have finished BEFORE the main stage even started!

Second stage ended before Dragonforce (a awesome british band) took the stage - although there was 1 hour "dead time" between Mastadon and Dragonforce, and I have to say I was plesantly surprised, they sounded really good. However, it was difficult to hear the lead singer over the rest of the band so they may wish to do something about that at the upcoming shows. Overall they rocked though and I'd love to see them again, so come on back boys. Next up was Disturbed and the ROCKED!!!!!!!!!! I have seen Disturbed play live before at Ozzfest and I always love watching them, they are amazing live and put on one hell of a show! It also helps that David (the lead singer) is HOT! Please come back to Washington soon!

Last up was Slipknot and although I have nothing against their fanebase and they put on one hell of a stage show, you can understand anything they are singing. Needless to say neither my mom, step-dad or I cared to stay through their entire set. We ended up walking down and checking out the remainder of the booths while listening to Slipknot play on stage. We ended up leaving before they left the stage and it was funny to listen to the other concertgoers (who left early like us - and there were quite a few of them) try and decifer the song lyrics. Let me tell you some of the crap I was hearing was hilarious. Overall the concert was great, but there are some things they need to change before next year. Hopefully, they'll bring Disturbed back with them again.

On one final note, all you DUMBASS parents who bring little children, anyone under 10 should NOT be allowed into a rock concert. If you want to destroy your own hearing that's fine, but don't destroy your childs. Also, we don't want to hear your child start crying when things get too loud for them. They are too young to get anything from a rock concert so hire a babysitter and leave the kids at home.

This concert was insane. There were a lot of great bands there but a few bad ones. I don't care that the main stage overlapped the other bands. The other ones sucked so it doesn't matter. All in all a great concert...But dragon force shouldn't be there. They suck something terrible. Disturbed and Slipknot were crazy good. Also props to black Tide, they killed anyone else on the lower stages and should take dragon forces spot.
Amazing concert.

I didn't go to the July 9 show, but am attending the July 22 show in Kansas City. One thing I can't understand is why Dragonforce always gets on the ticket for these big heavy metal shows; they are horrible! About a year ago I went to go see Killswitch Engage and Chimaira and sure enough Dragonforce was there opening up for both bands. I don't think I have talked to a single person that takes this band's music seriously. But anyways enough bitching, I cannot wait until July 22 to see my favorite band in the world SLIPKNOT!!! I am also excited to hear some of the lesser known bands.

Great show. If you go, go see Black Tide, Five Finger Death Punch and of course, Disturbed and Slipknot. They both put on one of the best shows I've ever seen. If this Festival happens every year you can count me in!

The best I've ever seen. Dragonforce was hard to hear, but the fact they were even touring again made the wait worth it for the fans. The secondary stages were awesome in their own right, and the main stage blew away the world.

Now if only all the ticketholders had gotten into the spirit of things and cheered, sang, or otherwise do anything than staring into space as the bands played, it would have been even better...

This was the best concert I have ever been two. I have never seen Dragonforce, Disturbed, or Slipknot live and each and everyone of them blew my expectations out of the water. It was no doubt the best concert ever and I can't wait for Slipknot to come back again! Seeing Slipknot perform for the first time in 2.5 years was so awesome, First show and we go to see it. I also hear this was the only show where Slipknot played "All Hope is Gone".

finally making a review... MAYHEM WAS FREAKING HANDS DOWN THE BEST SHOW I'VE BEEN TO IN A LONG TIME! it was hot as hell, the crowd was pumped, and great bands. there were a few glitches though, like how the main stage started up while the jager and hot topic stage were still playing. i was so down to see underoath play live, but i couldn't because i didn't want to miss mastadon. other than that, it kicked ass. THE FIRST ANNUAL MAYHEN FEST STARTED IN SEATTLE! remember that bitches! andd.. on top of the. it was slipknots first live shows like like 2.5 years. slipknot had an amazing performance. i wish disturbed played for wayy longer but, they kicked ass too. it was really interesting to hear some of the not so big bands like walls of jericho and five finger death punch. (insane pits!) but yeah. i just hope next year i'll be a lot to get pit seats. ticketmaster hates me. WATCH OUT UPCOMING CITYS! mayhem is going to kick your ass...

Heck Yes!!! While it is true that they didnt open the gates for a half hour, and that they screwed up with main stage and second stage, the show rocked!
Black Tide, Under Oath and DragonForce were each amazing and most the other bands were pretty BA as well. The only band that I didnt enjoy was Mastodon, they had the stage pres of a pile of damp washcloths, I was bored while they played. . . Thank God for Under Oath!
I had to leave early due to family emergency so I missed Disturbed and Slipknot, but Im not a Slipknot fan anywho so that only half sucked. Definitely buying my tickets for next year as soon as they are available, so if anybody wants to hang with me next year shoot me an e-mail at farmer.zach@gmail.com.

The concert was great and I only have 4 complaints.
1. It was gay that they had two stages playing at the same time. Because of that i didn't get to see five finger death punch and machine head.
2. Disturbed should have performed last. Slipknot was great i just think disturbed is a far better band.
3. How do you run out of Rockstar Energy drinks when it's sponsered by them??
4. Besides the line taking forever to go inside... and missing half of Black Tide, I brought a cooler inside and it had water bottles and they made us take the caps off. That was fucking bullshit.

Other than that the show was amazing.
